The following translation is an excerpt from an article of AIKIDO SHIMBUN; the official newsletter of Hombu Dojo. The article titled "To the spirit of the past doshu" was written by Moriteru Ueshiba dojo-cho for the January 20th 1999 edition of Aikido Shimbun

"The techniques and way of Aikido that the founder O-Sensei left us, was not always easily understood by everyone. Doshu, my father, changed these so they would be easily understood, and he gave all of his life to spread this. For that reason he left behind many books that he had written. I grew up watching Doshu return from keiko to study and write for long hours and even with my child's eyes I could see the importance of this work"

This clearly states that the former Doshu made changes to O-Sensei's Aikido.

The Aikido as taught in Iwama strictly follows the techniques and way of Aikido as left to us by the founder.

This was handed out to participants of the seminar held by Saito Morihiro Sensei in the Swiss Alps in May 1999.

El siguiente Artículo ha sido extraído de una publicación en el Periódico Oficial del Aikikai Hombu Dôjo de Tokyo conocido como Aikido Shimbun. El artículo titulado “El espíritu del último Doshu” ha sido escrito por el actual Dôju Moriteru Ueshiba, (nieto de O´Sensei Morihei Ueshiba), en la edición del 20 de enero de 1999.

La traducción textual dice:

“...Las técnicas y el camino del aikido que el fundador O´Sensei nos dejó, no fueron fáciles de entender por todo el mundo. Doshu, mi padre, las cambió a efectos que fueran fácilmente entendidas por todos y por ello dedicó toda su vida en difundir esto. Por esta razón él dejó atrás muchos libros que tenía escritos. Yo crecí viendo a Doshu regresar del Keiko a estudiar y escribir durante largas horas e inclusive pude ver de pequeño, la importancia de este trabajo...”

Esta declaración del actual Doshu, demuestra claramente que Kissomaru Ueshiba introdujo cambios al Aikido de O’Sensei, en cambio el Aikido que se enseña en IWAMA sigue estrictamente las técnicas y la vía del Aikido que O’Sensei nos dejó.
